Dear Shayna B.,
I want to make over my room. I have been living in my house for six years. I have changed, but my room hasn’t. I’m older now and I don’t want to live in a baby-ish room. I feel like my room is a seed. I want my room to grow into an apple, but my parents don’t want to pay for my gardener or tools. Meaning, my parents won’t pay anyone to redo my room or for any supplies that would be needed. What should I do?
Rotten Room Raphael
Dear Rotten Room Raphael,
You don’t need to hire someone to make your room look nice. Small changes make a big difference. You or your parents can buy paint. You can make painting a project. The room will look completely different in a different color. Then of course, you can start putting up pictures or/and posters. (This part is optional, but very much recommended.) If your parents won’t pay for you to get pictures, you’re most likely going to need a job or very generous grandparents. For instance, sell your old stuff, sell hot cocoa, or even just sell lemonade. If you think making money is going to be impossible, you’re wrong! When I was 7, I got a job as a shadow for my younger cousins in a camp during the summer. If I could get a job at 7 as a shadow, I’m almost positive you’ll figure something out. Be creative! However, if you don’t want to get a job, remember, Chanukah is coming up!
Best of Luck,
Shayna B.
