(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) Over 20 years ago, when a group of officers in Hillside completed their training, Danny Kahane, z”l sponsored bulletproof vests for each of the officers. One of them was officer Donald Wilkenfeld.

Wilkenfeld’s son, Daniel, a member of the Union County Sheriff’s office, began donning tefillin every day after witnessing the menorah lighting ceremony at his office last year. Coming full circle, Jason Kahane purchased a beautiful new pair of tefillin from Israel in memory of his father and presented them to Daniel Wilkenfeld. Rabbi Kanelsky remarked that “Danny provided physical protection to officers 20 years ago and his son now provided a member of the sheriff’s office with the ultimate spiritual protection.”
