MDS students’ knowledge and skills were tested with Chanukah-related challenges built into STEAM programming. Lower school students built a giant lego menorah, with each grade collaborating to develop and execute a construction plan for a specific part of the menorah, following the halachot they learned in class.
In middle school, students needed to work together to escape the room, combining their Chanukah knowledge and critical thinking students competed to build a dreidel that spun for 30 seconds. “Our class divided the clues and strategized how to work together and best used everyone’s skills. We persevered and finally cracked the codes and successfully escaped!” Elana N., sixth grade From problem-solving to engineering, students worked together and all successfully escaped and made it to their next class on time.
