The event benefiting Laniado Hospital held at the Kaplan home in Teaneck on October 31 was a resounding success. At the chesed event, the audience enjoyed an inspiring presentation from Dr. Aryeh Simmonds, a former Bergen County resident, and now director of Laniado’s neonatal intensive-care unit. Also in attendance was the Laniado’s executive VP from Israel, Meir Mark, and its director and representatives of the American Friends of Laniado Hospital, Rabbi Yitzchak Waldman, Rabbi Henry Spitzer and Judy Rapfogel. Thank you to Teaneck Deputy Mayor Elie Y. Katz for participating and lending his support that evening.
Laniado Hospital, also known as the Sanz Medical Center, is a voluntary, not-for-profit hospital in Kiryat Sanz in Netanya, Israel, serving a regional population of over 450,000 in Netanya and the Sharon plain. Opened in 1975 by Rabbi Yekusiel Yehudah Halberstam, the first Klausenburger Rebbe, Laniado Hospital is run according to Jewish law and is known as the only hospital in Israel that has never closed due to a strike.
