Students at both campuses enjoyed an engaging presentation on the art of shofar blowing. They heard from Zachariah Edinger, the ritual director at the Spanish & Portuguese Synagogue and father of student David, who demonstrated the different sounds the shofar can make, likening them to a cry. He also shared insights into the process of crafting a shofar. Zev Muller, chazzan at West Side Institutional Synagogue and father of student Adina, showcased his skills to students from grades one through six at Bais Yaakov Bnos Aliya, demonstrating techniques for producing clear and powerful blasts.

Middle school students began the “Names, Not Numbers project©” for the first time this year, featuring opening presentations by Tova Fish-Rosenberg and renowned journalist Avital Chizhik-Goldschmidt. The students are looking forward to continuing this meaningful project, especially during these challenging times for Jews around the world.
