Gan Henel Early Learning Center Offers Something for Every Child

An exciting new program is coming to Bergen County. Starting in the fall of 2017, Gan Henel Early Learning Center, a Modern Orthodox preschool, will be leasing space from Kehilat Kesher, located in Englewood.

Gan Henel Early Learning Center is a progressive and arts-inspired early childhood center with a dynamic and academic preschool program geared to children ages six weeks to three years.

Tsipy Weiss of Teaneck is excited and enthused to bring her experience and expertise as an early childhood teacher and director to the Bergen County area.

Weiss is the director and founder of Gan Henel Early Learning Center. She worked as preschool director at the Chabad Early Learning Center in Riverdale for 10 years. Prior to that she was preschool director at Chabad of the Mainline in Pennsylvania.

Weiss has a graduate degree in early childhood education and, before becoming director 12 years ago, was an early childhood teacher for 12 years in classrooms across the country.

Gan Henel bears the name of Weiss’ late mother, Henel Cohen, z”l.

“She is my inspiration,” Tsipy says when asked why she chose to name the center in her mother’s name. “In her parenting she showed me the value of focusing on the ‘whole child’ in reaching and developing every individual child’s interests, strengths and needs. Additionally, even with eight children, she realized the importance of individual time and attention needed for each and she raised us with that.”

Gan Henel’s philosophy and focus is based on the knowledge that the formative years of early childhood are vitally important, and that each child is viewed as a seed that we nurture with the utmost care for the tree to grow healthy and strong. Its carefully crafted program is designed to provide children with the early foundation and framework necessary for the transition to elementary school and beyond. Children learn to develop the literacy, numeracy, reasoning and decision-making skills that form a foundation for school readiness. In addition, children learn socialization skills, build self-confidence and develop the preliminary skills to explore and experience their world independently. In so doing, and by individualizing and hand crafting the program to each child, Gan Henel creates confident and eager learners, one child at a time.

The staff at Gan Henel Early Learning Center consists of well-qualified, skilled and experienced preschool professionals who are handpicked for their warmth, expertise and innate understanding of, and ability with, young children.

The staff has experience working in other early childhood centers such as Yaldenu and Manhattan Day school in Manhattan, Temple Emeth in Teaneck and Barkai Yeshiva in Brooklyn.

The curriculum is progressive, rich and dynamic. The Judaic and secular program is a holistic one with both components integrated seamlessly, and the arts are a focus throughout the classes.

The facility is modern and spacious with lots of natural light throughout the classrooms.

Gan Henel’s preschool program offers classes and programs for children ages 18 months to 3 years. The infant, baby and tot program will offer an exclusive childcare experience for little ones from 6 weeks to 18 months.

The family center will offer daily ‘arts’ (music, movement, arts and crafts and puppetry) classes, as well as Hebrew immersion for babies and toddlers along with a caregiver.

The school will be running Preschool Fun Days for children ages 2 to 6 for when children are off from school. These days will feature age-appropriate activities for preschoolers, and include day trips, enrichment classes, painting classes and specialty events led by Gan Henel’s top-notch, trained and warm professionals.

“It takes a village to raise a child.” Understanding the needs of working parents, Gan Henel fully understands the panic when regular childcare falls through unexpectedly. With that in mind, the Gan Henel ELC offers backup care as an option. Backup care is geared toward babies and preschoolers from 6 weeks to 5 years.

Gan Henel Early Learning Center offers extended hours, starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m., to accommodate working parents and keep the children well cared for and happy.

The grand open house for Gan Henel will take place on Sunday, April 23, from 10 to 12:30 at Kehilat Kesher (509 Engle Street). There will be exciting activities for the children and information for the parents. Parents will meet the director and staff and see the school set up and ready for the magic to happen.

Gan Henel offers competitive rates and, for a limited time, is offering a first year special of 10 percent off listed prices. Rides are also available from Teaneck and Bergenfield areas.
