The next meeting of the Genealogy Club of Central Jersey (GCCJ), sponsored by the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, will take place on Thursday, May 13, at 7 p.m. at Congregation Ahavas Achim, located at 216 S 1st Ave in Highland Park, NJ.
The topic of the meeting will be Jewish Family Names. The origins and meanings of Jewish family names often are not what they appear to be. Jewish family names reflect the customs and laws of the countries in which they originated, and they frequently are modified by family migrations. This talk will examine the rich heritage that is attached to the names that we bear and will attempt to distinguish fact from fiction on this often puzzling topic.
If you know of anyone who might be interested in attending this or other meetings of the GCCJ, feel free to invite them!
