Gil Student to Speak at Teaneck Jewish Center on Shabbat Chol HaMoed Sukkot

Rabbi Gil Student will be speaking on the topic of “The Evolution of Sheva Brachot” at the Jewish Center of Teaneck on Shabbat, October 22, during Seudah Shlishit.

Rabbi Student, a Jewish Link contributor, runs an extraordinarily well-regarded, carefully curated website called Torahmusings.com, which reaches approximately 6,000 people each weekday. Torah Musings seeks to offer readable summaries of complex halachic issues in the news and explorations of Jewish thought from a Modern Orthodox perspective. Rabbi Student writes frequently on Jewish issues and has published articles about the interface between different facets of Judaism, specifically Orthodox Judaism and Modern Orthodox Judaism.

A Manhattan finance manager, he spends his commuting time and his evening hours writing, editing and communicating with collaborators, fellow writers, rabbis and others. Rabbi Student currently lives in Brooklyn, but grew up in Teaneck and attended the Frisch School and Yeshiva University. He is the son of Jewish Center’s president, Isaac Student. He is a member of the executive committee of the Rabbinical Council of America.

The Jewish Center of Teaneck, located at 70 Sterling Place, is an Orthodox synagogue with daily, Shabbat and holiday services. Its spiritual leader is Rabbi Daniel Fridman.
