Give the Original Fair Lawn Mikvah Its Due

I read the article regarding the Fair Lawn Mikvah Project (“Fair Lawn Mikvah Project Is Truly a Community Effort,” December 31, 2020) with great interest, as I have been in the Fair Lawn community for many years. I was impressed by Mr. Isler’s dedication to this wonderful collaborative effort, yet was disheartened that the monumental time and efforts spent on the existing mikvah of the past 30 years were minimized into one sentence, stating only the number of years it’s been in existence and its oversight by mainly one person. In fact, it was a huge effort with many people combined both in the design, creation, building and maintenance of the mikvah and included many people. I only know of a few, such as Jeffrey Packard, who worked hard to provide the beautiful stained glass and artwork, and Irving Weinberg, who oversaw many maintenance and repair projects including design, hiring workers, commissioning Mr. Packard and attention to a multitude of customer service details such as obtaining nice chairs, artwork for the walls etc. To this day, he and a few other men (unfortunately I don’t know them all) continue to work diligently and on call whenever there is a question or repair needed.
