Glicksman to be Honored by Women’s League Community Residences

Dr. Stephen Glicksman of Teaneck will be awarded the Professional Excellence Award at the 36th Annual Tribute Dinner for the Women’s League Community Residences (WLCR) on November 16th, 2014. The dinner will be held at the The Palace at 780 McDonald Ave., in Brooklyn, beginning at 5:45pm. Glicksman will be recognized for his innovative work in the field of disabilities in general, and for his more than two decades of outstanding work at WLCR in particular.

 

Dr. Glicksman earned his Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Yeshiva University. In addition to his valuable work in all of the WLCR residences for children, teens and young adults, he is an adjunct associate professor at Yeshiva College and the YU Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, and a consultant psychologist for the School for Children with Hidden Intelligence (SCHI) in Lakewood, NJ.  Dr. Glicksman has published articles on topics as diverse as using spirituality to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and the relationship between professional and parental outlooks in helping children with profound and multiple disabilities.  He has presented at numerous professional conferences, both locally and internationally.

 

Dr. Glicksman consistently focuses on uncovering and highlighting service participants’ strengths and empowering them to maximize their potential. His personal involvement with staff and residents in facilitating monthly “Cutting Edge Committee” meetings, conducting staff trainings, developing behavior plans, and promoting the WLCR philosophy, as well as being the agency representative on various Statewide committees, has made him a beloved clinician within the WLCR family.
