Wednesday, February 5, was a special day at Tenafly Chabad Academy as students in grades one through five participated in both Global School Day of Play and World Read Aloud Day. Since both of these special events fell out on the same day, teachers and students combined their love of play with their love of reading and literacy in a variety of activities. Students were engaged in academic games and activities in class, as well as time to bring games and toys from home to play with. One of the highlights was when the students in first and second grade got to listen to the book “Beryl’s Box” by Lisa Taylor. The story is about two friends who go on all sorts of fantastic adventures using only their imaginations and a cardboard box. The students then went on their own adventures with their own cardboard boxes! What a great way to spend a day!
