Going to Israel During Yeshiva Break Week? Join AFYBA

(Courtesy of AFYBA) The American Friends of Yeshivot Bnei Akiva (AFYBA) is proud to announce its unwavering commitment to the critical initiative, “AFYBA Supports War Efforts in Israel.” This movement is dedicated to fortifying the nation during these challenging times, standing in solidarity with Israel. As part of this endeavor, AFYBA invites Americans visiting Israel in January to enhance their trip for one day and participate in a special AFYBA Mission experience. To register and for more information contact [email protected].

Scheduled for January 22 and 23, these AFYBA-hosted one-day events will emphasize values such as solidarity, brotherhood, and ahavat Yisrael. The primary objective is to demonstrate AFYBA’s deep care for soldiers, Bnei Akiva students and staff, the wounded, hospital staff, and evacuated residents from border cities.

Jack Gourdji, executive director of AFYBA, expressed his hopes that those who join this mission will return to the USA as personal witnesses to Israel’s current situation, fostering a stronger connection with the AFYBA family.

These events will also provide a unique opportunity for visiting Americans to connect with Israeli families undergoing immense hardship, ensuring they do not feel alone in these trying times.

The trip is open to all visiting Israel during this period, whether as individuals, families or groups. The two available dates, January 22 and January 23, will include the following activities:

Visit to army bases near the Southern border.

Tour of towns and villages affected by recent events.

Visits to schools converted into army bases.

Meetings with representatives of hostage families.

Visits to hospitals to engage with survivors of terrorist attacks.

“The war has significantly impacted AFYBA schools and the lives of our students and their families, but our students remain resilient, doing what is right for the country while maintaining their education through Yeshivot Bnei Akiva,” said Gourdji.

Transforming Tragedy Into Unity: AFYBA’s Immediate Response

Recent violent incidents have left numerous families shattered. Recognizing the urgent need for unity and assistance, AFYBA has initiated key efforts to provide aid and strengthen national security. These initiatives include:

Creating Sanctuaries: AFYBA-affiliated schools have transformed into sanctuaries, offering refuge to displaced families affected by terror attacks. These facilities provide essential support, including food, shelter and daily care to individuals of all ages.

Educational Adaptations: With schools repurposed for relief efforts, AFYBA students have transitioned to online learning and are actively involved in agricultural efforts, showcasing their resilience and dedication.

Military Support: Yeshiva Bnei Akiva Eli has been repurposed as a military base to support Operation Swords of Iron. AFYBA is investing in advanced military equipment, including ceramic bulletproof vests, helmets, and drones, to enhance the military’s capabilities against terrorist threats.

AFYBA appeals for global solidarity and requests support for the vital endeavors they have created. Every contribution, regardless of its size, can make a profound difference in these testing times.

“We deeply appreciate everyone’s compassion, solidarity and unwavering support. Your contributions to AFYBA to fortify our mission to stand steadfastly with Israel during this crisis remains of the utmost importance,” said Gourdji.
