Google Arts and Culture Creates Anne Frank Exhibit

Google Arts and Culture, in partnership with the Anne Frank House, has created a virtual exhibit of Anne Frank’s home in honor of what would have been her 90th birthday. The exhibit includes a unique look into Frank’s childhood home before she and her family went into hiding. There is an opportunity to explore her bedroom as well as view the only existing footage and family photo with Frank herself.

Google’s commemoration includes credible historical resources, and visitors to the virtual exhibit experience a slide show of sorts in which every picture has a brief informational paragraph attached. Each section contains a myriad of biographical details that gives an inside look into each part of Frank’s life.

The exhibit ends with a modern outlook that highlights the contrasts in Amsterdam from past to present. One aspect of the exhibit is centered around the goal of educating young people around the world about Frank’s life. Younger generations are more likely to want to learn about the Holocaust by using this online experience than by utilizing older, more traditional means. Ultimately, the purpose of the exhibit is to spread information about Anne Frank’s life during the Holocaust through a new platform.
