The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Gotham Burger would like to recognize Bruriah’s Ally Orgel as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Ally is an 18-year-old graduating senior and co-captain of the varsity A-League basketball team and soccer team at Bruriah. Coach Susan Rifkin told the JLNJ, “Ally is charming, coachable, fast, fun, competitive and astute. Ally is the epitome of sportsmanship and the young adult every coach should wish to have the opportunity to coach.”
Ally congratulations on great high school career, we wish you much luck next year and beyond. A few questions about you and your sports….
Who are your role models?
My parents are my role models because they always wanted me to give 100% effort in everything I do. They never missed a game and were always there to cheer me on and supported me whether my team won or lost.
What is your pre-game routine?
My pre-game routine is drinking lots of water and trying to get my team excited to play the game and to not be nervous!
What is your earliest sports memory?
One of my earliest sports memories is winning the championships when I was in seventh grade! We had a huge pep rally in school before the game that got everyone excited. My dad was the coach of my team and it was a great game!
What is your funniest sports memory?
On the soccer team, I was playing defense and I was trying to prevent the other team from scoring, so I kicked the ball hard away from our goal and wound up scoring for my team!
What is your favorite sports memory?
My favorite sports memory was this year that I was able to play on the basketball and soccer teams with my sister Jessie. She’s an amazing player and it was so nice that I got to play with her. We worked really well together and I’m going to miss playing with her next year!
What do you like to do when not playing sports?
Hanging out with my family and friends
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
It’s really cool that I got picked because it shows that my hard work paid off and that I contributed positively to my team.
