The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Gotham Burger would like to recognize TABC’s Shai Rosalimsky as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The 17-year-old sophomore, was the captain, gold clove center fielder and leader of the 2016 TABC Storm JV softball team. Sadly for the Storm faithful, the team fell just short of making the playoffs. Rosalimsky showed his versatility in the 8-1 season ending loss, when he switched to catcher in the final inning, because the team needed the win. After the game Shai told the JLNJ, “I’m glad that I was a part of this much improved team and I hope we can make the championship run again in two years.”
JLNJ caught up with Rosalinsky.
Shai you show tremendous leadership for a 17-year-old.
Who is your role model?
My role model would have to be my brother. He has encouraged me to be a team player and how to lead a team on and off the field.
Who is your favorite professional athlete?
My favorite athlete would have to be Nick Swisher because he shows what it means to be a good team player.
What is your pregame routine?
My routine is just to stretch and get loose. I don’t want to tire myself out, so I usually take it easy.
What is your earliest sport memory?
My earliest sports memory is when I was in my front yard and hitting tennis balls over the house. I was around six.
What is your funniest sports memory?
Well, last year I was running home from third and the ball hit the opposing coach in the head.
What is your favorite sports memory?
My favorite sports memory was when I made a diving catch to end a game once when I was playing on the baseball Teaneck all-star team.
What do you like to do when you are not playing sports?
When I’m not playing any sport, I like to dance.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
The best thing about being a sports star is that I could brag about it to my teammates and hopefully it could encourage them to give the game their all.
