(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) Last week a group from Estonia came to celebrate Hakhel in the US. They arrived together with Rabbi Shmuel Kot, the shaliach from Estonia. They spent Shabbos at 770 in Crown Heights and visited the Ohel of the Rebbe. As part of their journey, they came to Hillside to hear words of inspiration. They were especially inspired by the words of Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky as he recounted personal stories of his parents, and his own mesiras nefesh in the 1960s during the Russian regime. Rabbi Kanelsky learned underground, and his father had to change jobs 18 times to enable him to keep Shabbos. The guests were encouraged to continue uplifting their lives and strengthening their commitment in Torah and mitzvos, as they were sitting by the farbrengen and saying l’chaim.
