(JNS) Palestinian terrorists in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip fired a long-range missile that set off sirens in towns just south of Haifa on Wednesday, October 25, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed.
The military said the projectile exploded mid-air.
There were no reports of injuries.
Hamas took responsibility for the attack, claiming it had fired an R-160 missile. The R-160 “Rantisi” is made by Hamas and has an estimated range of 160 kilometers (100 miles).
Hamas also fired a long-range rocket from Gaza towards Eilat on Wednesday.
The IDF said the projectile hit an open area, causing no injuries or damage.
No sirens were sounded in Israel’s southernmost city, although residents of the area reported hearing an explosion.
Later on Wednesday, four rockets were fired at Kiryat Shmona, near the borders with Lebanon and Syria, the IDF said.
All four rockets struck open areas and caused no injuries. The IDF reportedly attacked terrorist targets in Lebanon in response.
On Tuesday afternoon, Palestinian terrorists in the Strip launched a massive barrage of rockets at central Israel, sending more than a million people running for shelter.
Hamas took responsibility for the attack, confirming in a statement that it fired a “heavy barrage towards the Tel Aviv area.”
At least three people sustained injuries, Magen David Adom reported.
