Residents of Arzei Habira told JLBC that when they heard the second siren from an ambulance right outside their windows, they knew something bad happened. It was part of the aftermath of an attack by an Arab driving a van that he plowed into a group of people waiting for the light rail–not far from Ohr Sameach and other yeshivot where Bergen County bochrim learn. The terrorist drove through the next intersection, hit more pedestrians, crashed the van, got out and began attacking people with a metal rod until he was shot dead by the police. Ibrahim al-Akar, the driver, killed one person and wounded at least 14, three of them seriously, including police officers. Hamas took credit for the attack.
