(JNS) The Hamas leader killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon on Monday, Sept. 30 was an employee of UNRWA, the terror-linked United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees and their descendants.
The NGO U.N. Watch earlier this year highlighted Fateh Sherif Abu el-Amin’s involvement with UNRWA, including his role as the principal of the UNRWA-run Deir Yassin Secondary School in El-Buss and head of the UNRWA teachers’ union in Lebanon.
“Fateh Sharif was just eliminated by Israel. He was the coordinator of Hamas activities in Lebanon. He was also a decorated @UNRWA manager. What else needs to happen for the world to see that this organization is nothing but a front and money launderer for terror organizations,” wrote the former international spokesperson for the IDF, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Jonathan Conricus on X.
According to UNRWA, Abu el-Amin was suspended without pay in March for three months for violating regulations and was investigated over his political activities.
In a presentation to the Dutch parliament in The Hague in June, U.N. Watch criticized UNRWA for not firing Abu el-Amin. The NGO noted that Abu el-Amin openly praised Hamas terrorism, including the Oct. 7 massacre.
