It is still unclear whether Hamas commander in Gaza, Muhammed Deif, was killed in an Israeli air strike on his home Tuesday. An Israeli official told Fox News that the Israeli strike killed Deif. Eyewitnesses said that at least three rockets landed on the home of Muhammed Deif. A funeral for his wife and son was held on Wednesday after they were killed in the IDF attack.
Hamas claims that Deif was not present in the building when it was hit. During an interview with an Arab news source, the reporter started to call Deif a shahid (martyr) and quickly corrected himself. A Hamas spokesman called the attack on Deif’s house an escalation in the aggression by Israel. “The Israeli occupation failed to kill Deif since he was not present at the time.” Yitzhak Aharonovitch, Minister of Internal Security reacted to the news but refused to confirm his death, “I have been updated and you will have to wait patiently for more information.”
