He’Atid Girls Defeat Kushner In Battle of the Undefeated

(Yeshivat He’Atid) The (6-0) He’Atid Hurricanes took a drive down the Garden State Parkway to take on the (5-0) Kushner Cobras. Kushner pushed the pace early with their fantastic guards and took a 16-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Hurricanes responded in the second quarter and trimmed their five point deficit to one, with the Cobras leading 23-22 on their way into the locker rooms. Whatever was said in the locker room worked as the Hurricanes stormed out to an 11-0 run to take a 33-25 lead to end the third quarter. Kushner did not back down. In a very loud and intense fourth quarter, the Cobras got back to within one point (37-36) behind their stifling defense. With fewer than 30 seconds to play, Hurricanes PG Nili Klapper, who led all scorers with a season high 17 points and eight assists, came away with the biggest steal of the game and put He’Atid up 39-36. After a Kushner timeout, the Hurricanes buckled down and came away with one last stop as time expired and escaped with a 39-37 victory to remain undefeated and stay on top of their division with a (7-0) record. Ilana Cooper led all rebounders with a whopping 16.
