Heichal HaTorah talmidim and alumni have uplifted the spirits of the Kfar Maimon community this Chanukah—a community near Netivot on the Gaza border that has been displaced since the beginning of the war and has been residing in a hotel for the past two months. The initiative began with the efforts of Yehuda Weiss, a Heichal alumnus presently learning in Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh, in collaboration with his father, Rabbi Duvie Weiss of Congregation Ohr Chodosh in Bergenfield. Their collective efforts raised over $3,500 in donations from Ohr Chodosh and Yehuda’s fellow alumni. With these funds, over four duffels worth of new toys were purchased and Heichal alumni personally delivered them to children at the hotel. After distributing the toys, the Heichal alumni initiated spirited and heartwarming dancing, bringing the young Kfar Maimon children some of the joy of Chanukah. The families of the Kfar Maimon community were extremely excited and appreciative.
