This past week, Heichal HaTorah marked important accomplishments among its talmidim. All ninth grade students learn and master the entire Maseches Megillah. Fifteen talmidim from 10th, 11th and 12th grade decided to review Maseches Megillah as part of the Daf Yomi. Forty talmidim joined the Mishna Yomi program and attended a daily chabura given after davening each morning by Heichal senior, Akiva Besser. These 40 students finished Berachos, the first masechta in Shas. The entire school and parents of the mesaymim came together in a grand siyum to celebrate this tremendous accomplishment. Rabbi Oberlander, Judaic studies principal, discussed individual misaymim and introduced his rebbe, Rabbi Moshe Meiselman, rosh hayeshiva of Toras Moshe of Israel, and nephew of Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik, who joined in the festivities as well. Rabbi Meiselman addressed the talmidim and stressed the primacy of Torah learning in our lives and as a conduit to Hakodosh Baruch Hu and avodas Hashem. He also encouraged the misaymim to continue learning other masechtos as well as reviewing the one they have just completed. The morning concluded with Heichal’s rebbeim and the entire student body joining in lively singing and dancing with the misaymim and their families.
