This past week, the Heichal HaTorah chess team, led by Heichal alumni Tzvi Ginsberg and Uli Stechler, organized a yeshiva-wide chess tournament on the evening of Nittel Nacht. Ginsberg explained the historical and cultural significance of Nittel Nacht, during which many European Jewish communities abstained from learning and engaged in cards, chess and other games. For the Heichal talmidim, it was a pleasant night of camaraderie and competitive chess.
