Heichal ninth grade talmidim in Rav Dani Staum’s iyun shiur had the tremendous zechus of meeting with Rav Berel Wein, a world-renowned Jewish historian and international lecturer. Rav Wein, the founder and former rosh yeshiva of Shaarei Torah, was Rav Staum’s rosh yeshiva and has been a recognized lecturer and writer on Jewish history for decades. Visiting from Israel, Rav Wein shared a powerful message with the talmidim, emphasizing the value of being a Jew and how each student has a unique role in the future of the Jewish people. Rav Wein addressed the meaning of Yom Hazikaron and Yom Ha’atzmaut and the gift and miracles Hashem has bestowed upon the Jewish Nation, particularly in light of current events. Many of these insights were also covered in the book recently authored by Rav Staum, which delves into the teachings of his esteemed rebbe, titled “Nostalgia for Eternity: Ideas, insights, and inspirations from Rabbi Berel Wein.” It was truly a unique and memorable experience for the talmidim and an honor to have met with such an impactful figure.
