Heichal Juniors enjoyed a grade trip to Washington, D.C. this week, taking in some of the great sights in the nation’s capital. The Talmidim left after Shacharis, first stopping at the U.S. Capitol, seat of the United State Congress. After taking in panoramic views of the area, the boys had the opportunity to visit the various museums and war memorials surrounding the Washington Mall that interested them most. That afternoon, the talmidim met with AIPAC Leadership Development Director Karli Krasnipol, and discussed the crucial role of AIPAC, as well as the significance in maintaining positive relations between the U.S. and Israel. Krasnipol conducted a riveting Q&A session with the boys. This event was followed by Mincha and a barbeque dinner at Rosa Park. Next up was a fun time at the Washington Nationals Baseball game. The night concluded with an evening farbrengen with Heichal’s Mashgiach Ruchani Rav Daniel Schwechter at the hotel in Silver Spring. Day two began with davening and a visit to the Yeshiva of Greater Washington, where the talmidim had the privilege of hearing from the Rosh Yeshiva HaRav Ahron Lopiansky for a shiur and discussion. The talmidim also enjoyed meeting up with Heichal alumni learning at the yeshiva. Following the yeshiva experience, the talmidim visited the Holocaust museum for a meaningful and powerful afternoon. The trip capped off with a two-hour personalized Segway tour of the whole downtown area. It was a memorable educational experience for the students at Heichal.
