This past Sunday, over 145 prospective students from throughout New York and New Jersey were welcomed at the Heichal HaTorah Open House. Students were ushered in by over 100 student ambassadors, who greeted the eighth graders upon arrival and escorted them to a lavish dinner in the school ballroom. The formal program began with a welcome greeting from Rosh Yeshiva Rav Aryeh Stechler, as well as Rabbi Avi Oberlander, Judaic Studies principal. The energy was palpable in the room as the student-candidates broke up into individual chavrusa learning with current Heichal talmidim, where the candidates got a taste of the excitement of Heichal learning and also met a cross-section of the Heichal student body.
After chavrusa learning, prospective students had alternating sessions with short bursts of shiurim from over 15 Heichal rebbeim. General studies teachers then followed with an in-depth audio-visual presentation highlighting the robust academics program, including an interactive and thought provoking discussion about preparing Heichal’s students for successful careers in the future. Students were then given the opportunity to choose from one of four action-packed sessions covering STEM and inventions, sports, extra curricular and clubs, and much more. The night ended with dessert and a presentation on the exciting and enriching student life program. The students enjoyed the glimpse of the Heichal experience.
