Students in Dr. Berman’s Engineering Club can usually be found exploring and designing in the STEM lab during lunch periods and breaks throughout the week at Heichal HaTorah. It is not uncommon to find these creative and curious young men problem solving and building models and codes as they brainstorm together how to construct unique and creative real world projects. The club meets formally every week on Mondays and Thursdays before night seder. Freshmen students initially focus on electric circuits, then move on to coding using the language wiring/C++. After students master both circuitry and coding, they are tasked with completing multiple independent projects using the many technologies they have learned throughout the training sessions. Teamwork and collaboration are essential to success within this very popular club. After their first year in the program, students may continue on to animation coding or 3D printing depending on their personal preference. Application of the talmidim’s knowledge to real world issues is a hallmark of this exciting club at Heichal.
