Heichal HaTorah Wins First Torah Bowl Meet

This past week, Heichal’s Torah Bowl team competed in this season’s first meet against other local yeshivos. The first competition of the year, which included four matches, was held at TABC. At the meet, Heichal talmidim competed against three other tri-state area boys yeshivos, finishing with a clean sweep and winning all four rounds on topics covering the first three parshiyos of Sefer Bereishis.

Competing in the Torah Bowl requires a tremendous amount of dedication, and students commit to learning a different sefer of Chumash each year, with all of the text and every Rashi commentary. The talmidim—including Yonatan Abrahams, Ami Forman, Netanel Goldfisher, Dovi Morell, Nachum Pietruszka, Yehuda Stein and Adir Strauchler—meet each week to review material with Heichal rebbe, Rabbi Jason Finkelstein, who serves as Torah Bowl advisor.

Torah Bowl was developed and has been coordinated by Rabbi Mair Wolofsky since 1995, with close to 70 teams from throughout the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area competing. Congratulations to the Heichal team for their first win of the year.
