Heichal Open House Showcases Yeshiva’s Unique Qualities

This past Motzei Shabbat, Heichal HaTorah opened its doors for its annual melaveh malka for prospective students. The 8th graders represented a variety of communities, including Teaneck, Bergenfield, Monsey, Passaic, Edison, Elizabeth and the Five Towns.

First, the boys were treated to a sumptuous meal that was a carnivore’s delight: poppers, fries, brisket, sushi, pulled bee, and onion rings. After they had their fill, the talmidim broke up into learning groups, each run by a current Heichal student and focusing on the topic of Chanukah. Next, there were both shiurim by dynamic Heichal rebbeim and a series of mock classes led by Heichal’s outstanding general studies faculty. The academic portion of the night was followed by a sampling of Heichal’s broad array of extracurricular activities, which truly have something for everyone. They include personal training, engineering, krav maga, chess, basketball, swimming and many more. The night ended with a carnival themed dessert, with popcorn, cotton candy and Rita’s Ices. An amazing time was had by all, and the prospective students left feeling like they had really gotten an in-depth look at Heichal.
