Help Recover the Lost Music Of the Holocaust With ‘The Future Memories Project’

Francesco Lotoro

(Courtesy of The Future Project) For over three decades, Italian pianist Francesco Lotoro has undertaken an extraordinary journey: to search for, restore, archive, publish and perform the music written in all the concentration camps between 1933 and 1953. His travels have brought to light forgotten scores and revived the musical memories of survivors, immortalizing those who used music as an act of resistance. He has collected over 8,000 music scores and shared them around the world.

There is still much music waiting to be discovered. The Future Memories Project is a crowdfunding project supporting Lotoro’s trips in his campaign to recover more lost music. These trips are increasingly urgent as the last generation of survivors is rapidly disappearing. The project is available on the platform of the prestigious New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), where you can contribute online through various donation options provided. To donate, visit https://www.nyfa.org/…/project-directory/view-project/ and click “donate to project.”
