‘HERe: Happenings for Jewish Women’ Plans ‘Your Time! Your Song!’ Open Mic & Originals

(Courtesy of HERe: Happening for Jewish Women) HERe: Happenings for Jewish Women is once again breaking new ground by creating a first-ever Jewish women’s concert and open mic showcasing all original work, at “Your Time! Your Song!” Open Mic + on June 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Forte Piano in Paramus. Enjoy established artists and support the emerging talent of singers, musicians, comediennes, dancers and spoken-word artists as they get their moment to shine with their Jewish sisters at what promises to be another sold-out evening of connection and inspiration.

Based on the concept that every person is a unique creation in all history, coupled with music’s connection to all things spiritual, it just may be that every person, every Jew, every Jewish woman certainly, may have their own individual song just waiting to be brought down from shamayim. To that end, HERe: Happenings for Jewish Women.

Featured performances will include all original songs written by HERe favorites Shaindel Antelis, Esti Berger Pitterman and Tzippora Amster Rothberg, plus for the first time the musical sister harmonies of Glaser Drive, joining hands with open mic artists including the classical piano brilliance of Fraidel Leah Kletter, Broadway show stylings of Miryam Lakritz, songwriter Basya Saperstein, performance extravaganza by Esther Kost, the young rising stars Kira Smith, Chana Berenholz and Shevi Rubin, plus the ever-popular Esther Kleinman and the very special Lisa Schwadron with her harmonizing daughters, plus more sweet surprises. Audience favorite Toba Shifrin will set the tone for the evening with her very special, hilarious divrei bracha and divrei Torah, and will co-emcee with HERe Founder Leslie Gold Ruder.

In order to support the creation of new Jewish music by and for Jewish women, HERe: Happenings for Jewish Women held an innovative, first-of-its-kind songwriting workshop on Mother’s Day evening, taught by the Dream Team of musical mentors Shaindel Antelis, Esti Berger Pitterman and Tzippora Amster Rothberg. Twenty-six women ages 13-65 joined the Zoom event from Baltimore, Brooklyn, Virginia, Denver, Cincinnati, Lakewood, Monsey and Los Angeles. Of course, there were Passaic and Bergen County attendees as well. Everyone picked up great tips and tricks for writing songs. There may even be a song or two performed at the June 1 “Your Time! Your Song!” Open Mic + that were created as a result of this fabulous workshop.

Of course, no HERe: Happenings for Jewish Women would be complete without yummy refreshments and wine. HERe is always an inclusive, supportive environment for Jewish women of all ages and stages, and they invite you to come share a wonderful evening with friends—and friends you haven’t met yet.

HERe: Happenings for Jewish Women, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, that brought the Worldwide Women’s concerts to keep people sane and connected during the COVID crisis and raised thousands of dollars for Hatzolah, Kids of Courage, Partners in Torah, Project S.A.R.A.H., and helping Jewish women in crisis with emergency funds and presented December’s sold-out inspirational concert of singer songwriters and February’s first “Your Time!” Open Mic is answering the many requests they have had to continue to bring the famous Open Mic Nights with this “Your Time! Your Song!” Open Mic +.

Tickets are $36 each, with family packs of five tickets for the price of four and are available by going to www.herehappenings.org. Reserve your seats today—the past three in-person events were sold out!
