Two of the kosher restaurants in Highland Park invited community members to enjoy the chag in their sukkot, which were distinctive from others both in the neighborhood and in years past. The expansive sukkah provided by The Bridge, set up at the side of the restaurant, offered beautiful and artistic images of Yerushalayim. The large sukkah located behind Jerusalem Pizza utilized Halachic allowances, recommended by local rabbonim, to make the temporary dwelling more airy and safer in the pandemic era.
The Schilowitz family of Highland Park shared photos of their uniquely themed sukkah with The Jewish Link. Mr. Schilowitz explained: “I am a chemist and (last year) wanted to teach our grandchildren some chemistry while they visited my wife, Tobi, and me for Sukkos. Notice that the other walls are not the periodic table but they do have the elements tabulated. Also notice the molecules hanging.”
