It wasn’t just Selichot that got people in the mood for mitzvot, less than a week before the chagim.
The shuls and kosher establishments of Highland Park were abuzz with unusual activities on the Sunday before Rosh Hashanah, September 10. There was a Mitzvah Fair at Congregation Ahavas Achim, a pre-chagim boutique at Congregation Ohav Emeth (which attracted a visit from the area’s Congressman), a sefer Torah dedication and celebration by Mesorah NJ at Congregation Etz Ahaim, holiday preparations and sales at Mordy’s Bakery, Glatt 27 and Sweets to Nuts, and more.

Add to the mix a major street fair, sponsored by Main Street Highland Park, taking place on the same day—where careful shoppers could find creative gifts for the chagim—and you had an action-packed and memorable day for the Jewish community in Highland Park.
