If you’d rather view animals as artistic creations instead of observing the real thing, visit the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum. Set atop a rolling hill overlooking the Hackensack River, the Blauvelt Museum is housed in a completely renovated 1893 cedar shingle and turret carriage house. Originally established through a legacy of Hiram Blauvelt, a philanthropist, conservationist and collector, the museum is one of only five in the U.S. devoted exclusively to a display of wildlife art. Sculptures by Kent Ullberg and Paintings by Guy Harvey are on view through April. Museum is open Wednesday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm and weekends 2 pm to 5 pm.
