How to Change Your Life: Rav Abuchatzeira Comes to Jersey For Inspirational Talks

Harav Yechiel Abuchatzeira, shl’ita, sponsored by Yad L’Achim, is coming to the U.S. from Israel for a series of inspirational evenings. After the success of last year’s events, Yad L’Achim is hosting six inspiring events for successive nights beginning on Sunday, October 20. The events will take place in Queens, Brooklyn, Monsey, New Jersey and the Five Towns.  The Teaneck event will take place at Beth Aaron on Tuesday night, October 22. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 8:15. (The shul is located at 950 Queen Anne Road.)

Harav Abuchatzeira, Chief Rabbi of Ramle and scion of the famous Abuchatzeira family, will speak from the pulpit and then will be available for advice and individual blessings. This is the third straight year that Rav Abuchatzeira has traveled to America on behalf of Yad L’Achim. He is involved in rescue work in Eretz Yisrael.

Opening remarks will be made by Rabbi Dovid Goldwasser, Rav of Kahal Beis Yitzchak. Rabbi Goldwasser who has a long standing relationship with Rav Abuchatzeira, will participate in the programs and speak on “How to Change Your Life for the Better in Sixty Seconds.”

Rare video footage of Rav Ovadia Yosef zt”l will also be shown. Rav Ovadia spoke glowingly about the Pidyon Shvyuim work of Yad L’Achim, how they help to rescue Jewish women and children trapped in Arab villages. He hosted over 100 children rescued from villages in his home and the special and emotional footage will be shown.

Additionally, the dramatic video of the Rescue of Dina Bat Leah and her children will be shown for the very first time in the U.S. Dina was rescued after languishing for 28 long years. See what her children say for the first time after being on free land in Eretz Yisrael.

Yad L’Achim, established over 60 years ago by Harav Sholom Dov Lifschitz, zt”l, fights on behalf of the Jewish people to bring back those who have fallen into the worst possible spiritual straits. These include Jews who have been lured by missionaries into cults and, a recent plague in Israel, Jewish women who have married Arabs and find themselves trapped with their children in Arab villages.

Yad L’Achim, whose motto is “We don’t give up on even a single Jew,” engineers rescues, and helps Jewish women and their children undergo rehabilitation to rejoin the Jewish people. This involves renting a “safe house” for them, and providing them with basic necessities until the mother can find a job. Yad L’Achim also provides social and psychological help and, most importantly, helps to enroll the children in yeshivos. (Since many of these Jewish children speak only Arabic, Yad L’Achim often hires tutors and mentors, to serve as positive, Jewish father figures.) There are follow-up Shabbatons that bring together groups of women who have been rescued from Arab villages, who can share their common experience, and bask in the glow of an inspiring Shabbos. Yad L’Achim runs a 24-hour hotline for Jewish women in Arab villages and their families, which responds immediately to the over 1,400 calls it receives annually.
