(Courtesy of Kaplen JCC on the Palisades) Hundreds of people from all over Bergen County recently gathered at the JCC for its annual open house, where new and prospective members toured the facility, swam in the pools, worked out in the adult and youth fitness centers, attended sample classes and met with JCC staff to learn about all the exciting programs that the JCC offers. As a special promotion in connection with the event, the JCC is still offering people the opportunity to get $150 off membership if they join by October 31.
“Our goal was to engage our community by showcasing who and what we are as a welcoming community center,” said JCC CEO Jordan Shenker. “We are very pleased with the results, as dozens of families took tours and signed up as members. It’s the perfect opportunity to show our community the benefits that come with JCC membership and we are still busy responding to membership and programming inquiries.”
Adding to the fun of the day was the Thurnauer School of Music Instrumental Petting Zoo, where people of all ages could try their hand at a variety of musical instruments; dance school and fitness presentations; sample classes and demonstrations for adults in numerous activities; mini chair and table massages; entertainment for children, including a moon bounce, face painting and glitter tattoos; health- and fitness-related activities; and more.
Programs and facilities available to JCC members include two state-of-the-art fitness centers; outdoor water park and pools; year-round indoor pools; more than 90 free group exercise classes; CPR-trained swim instructors and lessons for all ages; a luxurious spa; free orientation and fitness assessment; basketball, racquetball and tennis courts; teen fitness center for ages 6-13; Early Childhood Center and nursery school; day camps; Thurnauer School of Music; School of Theater Arts; a dance school; cultural and learning programming for adults; and more.
