Hundreds Attend Shalom Task Force’s Spin to Win

(Courtesy of Shalom Task Force) On July 26, Shalom Task Force hosted its Fifth Annual Spin to Win Ping Pong Tournament in support of their critical work with victims of domestic violence. Over 250 individuals came out for a fun and impactful evening.

Teams of three battled it out to take home the elusive Spin to Win Trophy. This year, Steven Farbman, Yaron Markfeld and Howie Hershkovich defeated the Adventure Media team in the championship match. As the tournament played out, observers enjoyed a lavish barbecue catered by Graze Smokehouse, and a riveting program.

Dr. Shoshannah Frydman, executive director of Shalom Task Force, spoke about the organization’s work. She shared that the agency “thinks of our work as hopeful—and turning pain, despair, loneliness and fear into hope and a better future—both for individuals and for the community.”

The mission of the agency is to combat domestic abuse and help foster healthy relationships. 2022 has been a remarkable year so far for Shalom Task Force, including:

A national expansion of Project Kehillah, a working group of lawyers who represent domestic abuse survivors in the Jewish community.

During the 2021-22 school year, STF’s education department reached nearly 15,000 community members across the globe. During this school year, STF also launched Future Community Leaders, a new all-girls chesed initiative for high school juniors and seniors.

We conducted training for our hotline and education department volunteers from across North America, including Canada, California, Florida, Maryland, New York, New Jersey and Ohio.

Thank you to Sarah and Ian Boczko for opening their home and hosting the event and to the committee for their hard work: Lauren and Shalom Bienstock, Sarah and Ian Boczko, Jonathan and Ariella Brody, Daniella and Elisha Graff, Daniella and Steven Feldman, Bailey and Brian Sigman and Zeeva and Sruli Vegh.

Thank you to the table sponsors: Adventure Media Group, Daily Giving and Forspan Klear LLP.
