Hustle Heart/Bergen Broncos Free Throw Shooting League

Last Friday, over 250 kids across 20 schools joined together in the launch of the Hustle Heart/Bergen Broncos Free Throw Shooting League.

Kicking off the slate of 12 games was the girls division with a matchup of HAFTR vs. YCQ. All games are “reffed” by a Hustle Heart or Bergen Broncos ref and in most cases, friends and family join the zoom to cheer on their team/friends and provide an exciting and vibrant atmosphere. The Friday festivities concluded with a tight game pitting the RYNJ team vs. a combined team of He’Atid, Yavneh and RPRY seventh and eighth grade girls. All in all, it was a fun day for everyone as friends connected and basketball resumed in a competitive, yet fun environment.

Sunday, the league resumed with a full day of games starting at 10 a.m. and ending after 5 p.m. with 19 games played. The day started with the third/fourth boys division followed by the boys fifth/sixth division and culminated with the boys seventh/eighth division. The games were all close, competitive and exciting with friends and family alike cheering on their teams. Two games had players winning the games for their teams by shooting 10 for 10 at the free throw line.

Players are representing their schools from New Jersey, New York, Florida, South Carolina and more. Schools include AddleStone Hebrew Academy (South Carolina), BMA (Hollywood, Florida), BPY, Darchei Torah, HAFTR, HALB, HANC, Har Torah, He’Atid, Moriah, Noam, North Shore, RASG (Miami), RPRY, RYNJ, SAR, Shulamith, Yavneh, YCQ, Yeshiva Ketana LI and Yeshiva of South Shore.

Games will continue all week and through the end of May with daily schedules and standings posted on the Hustle Heart website and on both the Hustle Heart (@hustleheartsports) and Broncos (@bergenbroncos) Instagram pages.
