IBECC Bakery Opens For Business

In keeping with the tradition of eating sweet confections baked with apples and honey at this time of year, the children of the Iris Berman Early Childhood Center at Suburban Torah turned their classrooms into bakeries. The children baked their own round challot, apple crisp, and honey cake. By comparing a smaller 1/4 of a cup and a full cup, as well as noting the difference between a teaspoon and a tablespoon, the students experienced what it is like to measure and count through real life experiences. Their child-friendly recipes were written in a manner just for them, so they could clearly count how many eggs and how many cups of flour to add. Who knew math could taste so delicious?
