Ice Hockey Hurricane ‘Storm’ Continues

On Sunday at Floyd Hall Arena in Montclair, the Hurricanes continued their strong play as they skated to a convincing 7-1 win over the Knights. It was the team’s fourth consecutive victory of the spring league hockey season, moving them into second place in the Metro High School division. Aaron Teitelbaum opened the scoring with the first of his two goals at 4:08 of the first period on a pass from Eli Spinowitz. Then, nearly two minutes later Chaim Cohen followed up with the first of his two goals. Eli Schiff also had two goals for the Hurricanes, while Spinowitz finished with a goal and two assists. Daniel Lando and Avinoam Wizman each had two assists, while Yosef Teitelbaum, Benjamin Lando and Joshua Lando each picked up an assist. Ethan From was sharp in net, made some crucial saves early on and finished with 23 saves to pick up the win.

Over in the Atlantic division, Cougar Nation was finally able to field a complete squad as they took on rival Paramus Catholic. Despite heavily outshooting the Paladins in the first period, they trailed 2-0. Then three minutes into the second period, Jake Fromen broke through for the first of his two goals as Cougar Nation scored the game’s next six goals. Jack Margolius, Aryeh Bloom, Judah Volodarsky and Isaac Markovitz also scored. Jack Fischer (2), Jakey Zackai (2), Ethan Marom (2), Jacob Weissman (2), Joey Lipschitz, David Schenker and Ezra Csillag all had assists, while Ezzy Wachsstock made 26 saves in the 6-3 Nation win as they reached the.500 plateau.
