To learn from the lessons of Rabbi Akiva’s students, who didn’t practice ואהבת לרעך כמוך, loving your neighbor as yourself, Idea School students started Lag B’Oomer programming by learning different sources on ואהבת את הגר, loving the stranger, discussing current events where they didn’t see that happening, and thinking about how they might overcome fear of the “other” in order to bridge divides between ourselves and those we don’t know.
Then students and teachers went outside for outdoor activities and games, as well as popsicles and ice cream!
