Idea School Gets in NY State of Mind

On June 1, Idea School junior class went on a field trip to New York City. Students visited the Museum of the City of New York. The goal of the trip was to enhance the classroom learning in the humanities and beit midrash disciplines.

In an activity facilitated by the 11/12 beit midrash teacher, Mimi Farb, students learned Mishnayot from tractate Pirkei Avot, explored the exhibit “Activist New York,” and discussed b’chavruta insights that can be drawn from the sages’ Torah to modern day political activism.

Students then explored the rich exhibits on the first and third floors of the museum (NYC history and culture, respectively) and collected images and ideas for a collage work they will be creating ahead of Exhibition.

They concluded the day with a picnic in Central Park.
