The Idea School welcomed a large crowd of prospective students and families to its Open House this past week at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades. The Open House showcased the school’s unique Project-Based Learning model through a number of interactive and project-based sessions, giving guests the experience of how students learn and the depth of their learning. The individual workshop sessions for both students and parents were designed to highlight the core values of the school; that of teaching real-world skills, encouraging students to discover their passions, developing a personal connection to Judaism and understanding the importance of being responsible citizens to their communities and to the world. Through this unique learning model, students acquire and develop skills they will need in their post-high school careers, such as collaboration, iteration, giving and receiving feedback and public presentation—to name just a few. In this way, The Idea School prepares students for college and for their future careers, thus providing a 21st century education for a 21st century world.
