IDF Soldier Helps Light Menorah in Roseland

(Courtesy of Chabad of WO) Ron Feingold, Rabbi Mendy Kasowitz of Chabad West Orange and Deputy Mayor of West Orange Larry Rein lit the menorah on the first night of Chanukah, Dec 7, in front of Roseland Borough Hall.

Feingold, an IDF reservist who lives in West Orange with his wife, Samantha, decided to return to his unit after hearing about the horrific attacks on Oct 7. He returned to New Jersey just in time to help light the menorah and make the world a brighter place!

“The lit menorah is a symbol of Jewish perseverance and pride. Israeli victims and hostages deserve the light of the menorah to be lit in their honor around the world. Soldiers know that they have the backing of a strong nation that comes together to bring light into the world. This not only motivates us to win the war, but is what will lead Israel to continue to thrive as free people in our land,” said Feingold.

Rabbi Mendy and Altie Kasowitz of Chabad West Orange lit the menorah at Roseland Borough Hall for the 13th year, and enjoy a wonderful relationship with Roseland Mayor James Spango, as well as Recreation Director Michael Colitti and other town officials.

“It’s an honor to be a part of this annual event, but this year was extra meaningful. Now, more than ever, is a time for good people to unite, to pray, to celebrate and to bring more light into this world!” said Rabbi Kasowitz.
