As a native Clevelander I’d like to elaborate on what makes my hometown special (“Move to Cleveland” September 1, 2022):
Cleveland is a community of warmth, chesed and Torah. Walk into any synagogue and you’ll be treated like family. Don’t be surprised if there’s a bit of “Jewish geography” to try to link you with someone of their acquaintance.
Chesed is everywhere—the community supports the Menorah Park complex that provides outstanding support for seniors. On a personal note, when my mother, z”l, was nifter here in New Jersey with burial to take place in Cleveland, our New Jersey funeral director reached out to a Cleveland funeral home to get an Ohio licensed director to come to the cemetery. When asked what the fee would be, the immediate response was “GRATIS.” That’s Cleveland for you!
Last, but certainly not least, there is the Telshe Yeshiva, an international bastion of Torah in nearby Wickliffe, Ohio.
