TABC junior hockey crowned two champions this past Saturday night. In the early game, the junior division Maple Leafs met the Sharks. When these teams played in the regular season the Leafs jumped out to a 5-0 lead only to see it evaporate, wining only 6-5 on a late goal. The championship game seemed to be history repeating itself. The Leafs jumped out to a 5-0 lead again, behind the strength of playoff MVP Ethan Alter’s 4 goals and a goal by Judah Geenberger. This time around, the Leafs’ goalie Jonah Orlinsky did not let the Sharks back in the game; he slammed the door, shutting out the Sharks 6-0. Ethan Alter capped the scoring with his incredible fifth goal of the night.
After the game regular season awards were given out: regular season MVP Eli Knapp; most improved player Sachi Mandel; breakout player Jack Ruditzky; sportsmanship/team player Rami Kirsch; coach of the year Yitzy Kopstick.
First team all stars: Ethan Alter, Dani Greenberg, Max Schachter, Eitan Adler and Josh Levy.
Second team all stars: Ryan Brandwein, Avishai Jutkowitz, Gilad Jutkowitz, Eitan Geisler and Ari Mazin.
In the nightcap, the senior division Canucks were attempting to be only the second team in league history to go 0-7 in the regular season and then win the championship. Goalie Ethan From did everything to make it happen but this was the year of the Maple Leafs. Playoff co-MVPs Yoni Mann and Max Zakheim led the way with the help of Judah Rolnick, as the Leafs rolled the Canucks 5-0. Goalie Josh Orlinsky pitched the shutout for the Leafs.
After the game regular season awards were handed out: regular season MVP Charles Gibber; most improved player Yehuda Wiener; breakout player Yair Ashendorf; sportsmanship/team player Ezra Seplowitz; coach of the year Yair Knoller.
