Double your impact with Yeshivat Shalshelet’s Chanukah campaign: All gifts matched dollar for dollar.
(Courtesy of Yeshivat Shalshelet) Chanukah is a time of overcoming obstacles, of celebrating unexpected strengths, and building the resilience it takes to succeed. At Yeshivat Shalshelet, these themes hit close to home.
Our students, who have language-based learning differences, have often felt they could not succeed in a mainstream classroom or within our heavily text-based Jewish world. Due to the generosity of community-minded individuals, their lives have been changed forever.
In just a few months, we have seen dramatic changes in our students’ attitudes toward their own abilities, strengths and potential. This is the positive impact a gift to Yeshivat Shalshelet can make this Chanukah.
“Her whole demeanor about school changed,” noted Jennifer and Shmuel Bieler, whose daughter, Chaya, is a Shalshelet fifth-grade student. A couple of weeks into school she said the most wonderful thing a parent can hear: ‘School is hard but Shalshelet feels right—it just feels like the right place for me.’”
The strength of our community has made opening the first yeshiva day school for students with language-based learning differences possible.
“Though we don’t have children in the school system any longer,” said Miriam and Dan Michael, Teaneck community members and Shalshelet supporters, “we see this as vital as having a shul, mikvah, and butcher in the community. We have to educate and support all of our kids to be successful. We love that Shalshelet is working with the other day schools. It’s not a competition, it’s an enhancement to our educational landscape. We encourage anyone who has the ability to step forward to help the school in any way, whether or not they have a connection to someone with language-based learning differences themselves.”
This Chanukah, all gifts made to Yeshivat Shalshelet will be matched, dollar for dollar!
With your support, our students will go forth to high school and higher education with confidence, belonging and the tools to succeed and be leaders in our Jewish community.
Language-based learning differences are an individual challenge, but you can be part of the community solution.
