International Rap Icon Nissim Releases Official ‘Fly Away’ Music Video and New Album

The wait is finally over! International rapper Nissim finally released the music video for his hit single, “Fly Away”—a song about staying resilient during trying times. Filmed in South Africa, the music video for “Fly Away” features a young teen who is part of a community of converts to Judaism living in the violence-ridden slums of Johannesburg. The light of Judaism burns brightly in his soul, giving him the confidence to believe that, like Nissim, he too will live in a world illuminated by the beauty of a Torah-filled life.

Having grown up surrounded by wrinkling adversity, Nissim’s heartfelt lyrics inspire listeners to rise above their circumstances and dare to do the impossible. The music video was directed by renowned director and producer Daniel Finkelman, who wrote the script in collaboration with producer Shlomi Cohen. Prior to this video, Nissim had already made a huge mark in the Jewish music world in two previous music videos, collaborating with Israeli superstar Gad Elbaz and Daniel Finkelman in “Sparks Next in Hashem Melech 2.0” and “L’chaim,” both of which went viral on YouTube.

“Nissim has become a role model for so many, achieving so much against all odds,” said Finkelman. “Having experienced a similar journey, his message here is: ‘Don’t feel like you are stuck in life. Let go, break your boundaries and fly away because the possibilities are endless.’”

The video for “Fly Away” has already racked up over 200K views on YouTube, which are steadily rising by the day. It is being released in conjunction with Nissim’s highly anticipated new album, “Lemala.”

Nissim definitely has a remarkable backstory unlike most others in the rap scene. For years, he made a major name for himself releasing albums and performing under the moniker D. Black. During this time, he worked with top dogs like Macklemore and G-Unit star Young Buck and was also invited to perform at renowned events like SXSW Music Conference, Seattle’s Bumbershoot Music Festival and The Capital Hill Block Party. Amazon even named his sophomore album, “Ali’yah,” a Top 12 Album That You May Have Missed This Year in 2009!

He retired in 2011 to focus on his conversion to Orthodox Judaism but returned in 2012 under his Hebrew name, Nissim, and began writing from a more religious standpoint. Now, his music is all about rising up from times of uncertainty and strife and working to follow your dreams.
