I need your help! My really close friend is having a birthday party and I wasn’t invited. She invited all of my friends, but somehow forgot me. The party is next Shabbat and all my friends are talking about it. Should I say something to her or just try to forget about it?

Dear Lonely Leah,

You should say something to your friend. Maybe your not getting an invitation was an oversight or your invitation got lost in the mail. (When you talk to your friend make sure to ask if she sent you an invitation and something happened to it.) You should say to her, “___, l didn’t get an invitation to your party. Did you invite me?” If your friend says, “Yeah I did, sorry you didn’t get my invitation. Anyway, you’re invited!,” you’re good to go! If your friend says, “No, l didn’t invite you. It’s my birthday party and you’re not on the guest list.” Then you say, “OK.” And walk away. You are not friends with her. Now it’s time to just not really care. Don’t hang out with her. If you feel hurt by her mean response just remember, a birthday only comes once a year!
